WE WILL NOT BE SILENT
Please DO Not Let This Organization Go Out of Business
Why us?
Because our hands are not tied by regulations that prevent us from speaking out.
Because We Will Not Be Silent where public awareness or advocacy is needed to call attention to a problem or better paratransit and accessible taxi services.
Because we know that transportation is basic to independent living.
Because we know that everyone cannot and should not be forced to travel on mainline fixed route trains and buses. The mainline cannot accommodate all people who use wheelchairs or require a seat. We would overwhelm the system if there was no paratransit or had to return to or accept a life of living in an institution. Our quality of life would deteriorate if we become invalids, shut-ins or hermits, because we do not have proper accessible or affordable transportation.
We are not afraid nor prevented from lobbying city officials, state legislators, Congressional reps and private industry.
We host or participate in rallies, forums, conferences, townhall meetings, sit-ins, stand-ins, rap-ins, hearings, speakouts against poor services, or showcasing those who help and support us in our mission.
What is the mission of IMPRUVE?
To organize paratransit riders and advocate with persons with disabilities who ride mainline buses and trains to improve paratransit service and work proactively with paratransit operations for accountability of carriers; to advocate for clean, safe, properly maintained, and accessible vehicles, and equity in services regardless of a rider’s age, income, ethnicity, culture, employment or social status, location, purpose for riding, and choice of carrier. To develop a strategic 5-year plan for a green paratransit service under public ownership with support from Rider-Driver Alliance and Green Paratransit Think Tank.
